Having had my Focus Black Forest Pro stolen my insurance company are going to replace it with one of similar standard equipment from their prefers supplier.

As most of the bikes they have available come with Rock Shox forks I was wondring which ones would be comaprable to the Fox F-100.

Thanks

andy

nicklouse - the forks are the Fox F-100-RL 100 mm

ThePriory1978 - I thought SID's but i seem to be offered the Recon Gold.

Will have to keep a close eye on what i'm offered as the Recon has both Air and Coil spring option.
I'd be happy with SID RL's if possible.

I'd be really happy if they just replaced the bike with the 2011 Focus but the insucrance company has to go through their "prefered suppliers" so they get a better deal an spend less.
From what I can see their suppliers don't do Focus.

so you would be looking at a fork with a lock out?

Reba RL then. i would put the SID further up the fox range.

but the recon is too low down the RS range.

Sorry to hear about the theft.

Push for a Reba. Nice fork and more equivalent to what you had.

Who are your insurance companies suppliers? See if you can deal with them directly to remove the middle man. In a similar situation I dealt with Wheelies, they were happy for me to top-up the insurance amount to get a better bike.

I have had the Fox f100 and they are nice, light and look the part. but expensive.
I found them quite plush, and handles the bumpes quite well.

I just got some Sid teams, and I much prefer them, bit more controlled if that makes sence.

    I prefer the sids.
  • dont get pushed onto a recon it not worth it, Reba SL is a worthwhile one with the ajuster for dampers and other features

Can't you make your case to the insurance company that their 'preferred supplier' appears unable to offer the same quality of product as the one that was stolen. Due to this you prefer that they simply give you the money to find something yourself, or allow you to look elsewhere as has been suggested.

Check the small-print of your policy. The above worked for a friend of mine a couple of years ago. It seems wrong that they're basically giving you a lower spec. bike while saving money through a deal with a supplier. You wouldn't expect to get a BMW stolen and then have your insurance company only allow you to replace it with a Kia.
