No doubt stupid question about forks

This is going to sound like a stupid question to some if not most, but I've very recently started running a pair on Recon Air's, as I've never had air forks before... what sort of noise should they make when out and about. they seem to be very noisy, is it something in the setup I've done wrong ?
I've got the rebound somewhere in the middle, as the tracks I'm on are a mixed bag of small rocks and medium pot holes
Any advice would be good, plus I'm a big(ish) lad 13st 5

forks with oil damping do make noises as the oil moves through the valves."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
