This is what I have been riding round on this Winter. The Rize suffered a bit during the Winter of 2009/10 and my son's Chucker was standing in the shed doing very little so a plan was hatched. First thing I did was fit the OE Toras and Mach 1 wheels off the Rize. The 130mm forks slackened the angles a bit too much but otherwise the Chucker was trailtastic - brutal and harsh but direct and efficient with a satisfying tendency to snap back into line when things started getting squirrely. The other components were obtained as-and-when with the only real extravagance being the Xeno forks and short cage X7 mech.

Frame: 2007 GT Chucker XS2 16"
Forks: 100mm Society Xeno
Headset: FSA orbit
Cranks: Truvativ square-taper, 170mm
Chain ring: Deore steel 32T
Chain guide: Truvativ with Blackspire roller
Bash guard: E-thirteen Supercharger
Shifter: SRAM X4
Grips: ODI Xtreme
Rear mech: SRAM X7 short cage
Cassette: SRAM PG850 11-32
Chain: KMC X8-99
Brakes: Shimano M575 + RT76 rotors 180 front 160 rear
Bars: Ragley Wiser
Stem: Truvativ Stylo
Saddle: SDG
Seatpost: Truvativ Stylo
Seat clamp: GT
Pedals: Kona Wah-Wah
Rear wheel: Mach One Sub Zero, Shimano 525, DT Swiss, Maxxis Ardent 2.25 kevlar 60a
Front wheel: Mach One Sub Zero, Shimano 525, DT Swiss, Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.4 SS
Weight: 29 lbs

I've only used it round Cannock and I have to push up the first climb of the Monkey but otherwise the single front ring and 11-32 cassette is fine. The forks won't suit everybody but I am big and heavy and give them a good workout, and the 16" frame has a 580 mm top tube so there is plenty of room for my 6'2" frame. On the climbs I just lift the seat up a bit.

NICE "play" bike!.....What do you think of the Ragley Wiser bars?

    Thanks!

The Wiser bars are unusually 'normal' for Ragley - 710 mm wide, average rise/sweep, 270g or so, not too expensive and feel just fine. Stiff but not harsh.

The graphics are a bit primitive but they are just screen printed and are easily removed with some paint stripper. The orange colour is well lairy to begin with but is very sensitive to sunlight and fades to a kindof subdued browny-orange in literally a few weeks

Thanks for the review blitz, been toying with the idea of new bars as I seem to be the only cynic on the planet that thinks that easton bars feel "all wrong!"

    Have fun on it!
