sorry to be a complete idiot but i have had my new shimano wheels today and (feeling quite smug) have managed to change cassette and put the on the bike. however, when i was putting the tyre on the rear wheel i noticed that the hole for the valve wasnt dead centre. its more to the one side.

here (hopefully) is a link to the photos.

is this normal? will it cause problems?

thanks again for your help

no the valve isnt to one side. the spoke holes are to one side while the valve has to be in the middle. its called an offset or asymetrical rim, and its done on the rear only to balance the angle between the left and right spokes. the valve will be dead centre relative to the tyre.

have you put the tyres on the rims with the correct directional rotation?
