can't say i agree with the fork dust protector things but other than than that i like it alot0

Blue bits look great but I'm not a fan of accessories, id have to bin the mud guards, bottle cage and dust fork boots and chuck the pump, lock and saddle bag into a camelback. For me they spoil the lines of the bike which looks very nice btw but to each their own0

Thanks for your comments.
I'm not really a fan of accessories and to be honest when I use it for xc everything does go in a bag. I use it for day to day commuting and would rather not carry a bag for that but need to carry a few bits. It does 10 mile a day on river tow paths and the amount of dust that collects is ridiculous.0 -
How are those tyres out on the trail. I've been eyeing up those maxis advantage to replace ignitors.0

The problem with the dust protectors is not that they look crap (they do) but if you get any dust under them, it makes things a lot worse as it just stays there, and grinds away at things.
If you're using for commuting, then looks like a pretty good set up, nice choice on colour scheme!0 -
@specialeyes - I found the tyres to be a massive improvement over the original Kenda ones. I was looking for a tyre which could handle most things amply and they seem to do the trick.
@MountainMonster - I found the fork protectors to be a very snug fit and with the forks locked out for commuting I can't grumble at them in the slightest. I've only really tested them on the bike over the last few weeks. Last night though I thought it best to give her a clean. No dust deposits at all. Nevertheless when in comes to xc and the lock out gets turned off they have to come off along with all the other bits. Tell a lie, the chainstay protector stays on.
I am looking to replace the wheels on the bike so if anyone has any input then feel free to tell me your thoughts.0 -
Chainstay protector is really nice, I have the same in red. Only problem is after a few winter rides with wet lube on the chain it just looks grubby. Will probably go with black next time. As for wheels I'm looking to upgrade aswell, but I'm looking to The future with mine as I will upgrade to a hardcore long travel hardtail so will be getting hope pro 2 on stans flow from merlin.
I guess it depends on what type of riding your gonna be doing. Are your current wheels not upto the job? I ride quite aggressively/poorly (turned my front wheel into a figure 8 in the first week, pic in Sig) hence I'm going for the flows.0 -
@specialeyes - I only went for the chainstay protector as the bike was originally fitted with Alivio 9spd dérailleur. I found it didn't handle bumps very well and gave a large amount of chain slap. Since then I replaced the dérailleur with XT's and that has reduced it tremendously. It still slaps now and again but nowhere near as bad as before.
Another thing I recently did was replace the chain lube with that used on Chainsaws. In particular I went for some Stihl branded stuff. Dirt tends to not adhere to it, it doesn't flick off the chain and I dare say it has never stayed as clean as it is now, for as long as it has. I mention this as I found this also reduced the amount of oil that found its way onto the chainstay protector. Oh and you get a litre for about £5. has anyone else tried this?0 -
@specialeyes - Do you not have discs on your bike?
I have a set of Shimano M445's in white that I may get rid of. 185mm disc for the front and 160 for the rear. Recently bled, new pads and in perfect working order.0 -
Yeah its got discs, came with avid bb5's. They have done the job pretty well, just need a lot of adjustment. Will probably be one of the last upgrades I make. My bike has changed a lot since the pics on Flickr, new bars, stem, headset, skewers, seapost clamp.
Will have a look @ that lube you mentioned!0 -
Apologies on that. Didn't notice the brakes in the pictures. :oops:0

Minus most of the extras and ready for the trail!

Sorry for being extremely blunt but if you want to ask questions about your bike then please do so under your own topic. I'm sure other users on the forum would appreciate it if you were to remain in one area so your ridiculous comments and suggestions were easily avoidable.0
