Me again

So i've been looking at a Raleigh All-Terrain 30, as a cheap way to get back into mountain biking and keeping the other bike for commuting.

Anyway, preamble over, It comes with "EZ Fire" shifters, which are basically your gears and brakes in one ...piece...i guess? Cant come up with a name for it myself

My question is: Will it be possible to change to seperate brake levers and replace these shifters if they are already integrated in one piece ?

Cheers Guys.

You will be able to replace them but as they are fully integrated you will have to fit separate replacement shifters and new brake levers at the same time. Integrated shifters and brake levers usually come on 7 and 8 speed bikes with basic brakes. These are fairly common on low end bikes and it is often worth spending an extra £100 or so on the next model up.
Going up one model or looking at clearance deals on 2009 and 2010 bikes will often get you 9 speeds, hydraulic disc brakes etc. To up grade to these later will usually cost around double what you saved on the basic model.
