Wilier Mortirolo. 'Italian' Bike

Italian thread? Or is English, as is sometimes the case, Industry standard?!

Seems obvious and I think I know the answer is 'YES' but thought best to check.

Anyone know this?

Also, anyone know the bearing code for campag BB bearings?

Had no luck with this in 'Road buying advice' figured it's worth a shot in the workshop…

Thanks

I'm going to guess that you've got a Campag Ultra-Torque BB (external BB). If not please ignore my post.

It's an English thread but with Ultra-Torque you just replace the bearings (which are fitted to the crank spindle) and leave the shells in place (unless you've damaged the shells).

The likes of Parkers, Ribble and ProBikeKit all sell replacement Ultratorque bearings - they're press-fit on the crank spindle, not the BB. Tricky job to DIY unless you have the right tools - best take it to an LBS with the right bearing-puller / installation tool. Shouldn't need to replace the bearing cups unless you've really borked them.

    Thanks for the info.

This may sound a bit OCD of me but the chrome plating is flaking off and the cups themselves are starting to corrode slightly, so thought it best to replace them with nice shiny new ones. And thought I may as well replace the bearings whilst I was at it.

Are Super Record cups compatible with all campag chainsets too? I think a friend of mine has them with an Athena chainset and it works. I prefer the darkness of them over the record cups…

I prefer buying bearing from bearing shops, you can get them cheaper and slightly better seals for less ££ that way.

AFAIK all the Ultratorque BB cups are the same except the SR ceramic ones lack the rubber seals. Powertorque are different. If the bearings aren't worn / corroded I'd leave them be - I'm not sure if the UT bearings are a standard cartridge model - you'll probably find an answer over on Weightweenies.
