saracen ariel? would you??

hi hopefully buying a new bike in the next few week. I put a few posts on last week talking about lapierre bikes, i have managed to narrow it down to two bikes i think. stumbled across the saracen ariel .2.2010 today very nice looking bike and decent spec. anybody know anything about them?

I wouldn't because it's not a type of bike i particularily want just now but if i did, sure, I'd consider it. Singletrack took one to the fort william endurance dh race with just a couple of changed parts and did fine on it, frinstance.

It's bit too 'gravity' orientated for me, but if I wanted that type of bike it would be close to the top of the list.

What is it you want from the bike? From all accounts the Saracen is a blast o the downs and not too shabby on the trek back up again.

I just read WMBs trailbike of the year article and the Zesty came out really strong alongside the Trek EX8

However... the winner was the Canyon Nerve. Stunning spec for the money and a well crafted frame to hang it all on. TBH I'd have been more than pleased with any of their top 6 bikes as they all looked damn good. The Saracen was voted best 'downhill' style bike BTW.

If that's your thing it's got to be worth a look-in.

I'd be seriously tempted by the Canyon bikes... the model tested comes in at an seriously light weight.... 25lbs all in. The Saracen's around 31lbs.

Canyon also do a more aggressive range that's more in line with the Saracen's character.

I do like the look of canyon bikes ,the nerve am looks awesome! dont like not being able to try before you buy but i guess it helps keep the price down.. dont think it will be a saracen now! thought i had found a great buy but called the shop today and its gone...
