Having read a thread by Soupstone i can only say that after many years i to returned to the saddle.I started with a old knock about bike to see if i would like it again, and i find myself like a kid again.I also used cycling to try and lose weight along with walking and have lost 5 stone which gives me more impetus to ride more.
I started doing 2-3 mile rides and have built up slowly, and still take it at my pace, and slowly increase the distance the last thing i want is to tear a muscle in a leg,i know i wont be thundering along but that's fine i just enjoy it.

Hello and welcome. Losing 5 stone is fantastic, well done (assuming you were not 10 stone to start with! ) You are doing the right thing taking it at a pace that you feel comfortable with, you soon find you are going further and quicker anyway.0
