Route planning online

Hi there
Is there a good site where you can plan cycle routes online? The AA etc ones are focused on cars, so direct you along stupidly busy routes - what I'm after is one that only does (say) minor roads
Thanks

Yes, I just checked it and it's still working for me, though it can be a little slow sometimes. It's a good site for balancing the desire to get from A to B reasonably quickly without being overly harassed by traffic. I'm not sure if it's any good for long routes, though - it used to have a 25 km limit - they may have increased that distance but if you're looking at anything longish, you can break the journey down into stages.0 -
googlemaps used to let you put cycling as an option.
just checked, it must ahve been a beta test . they do walking routes but not cycling anymore. you do have the option to avoid Motorways though on driving directions if thats any help.Veni Vidi cyclo I came I saw I cycled0 -

Cloudmade will give you cycling directions: http://maps.cloudmade.com/. It does route you along bridleways, etc. if it is quicker and there is (as far as I can see) no way to stop that. It also doesn't have the Google-like ability to drag the route to a different road but you can add additional via-points...
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to export the route to GPX/TCX of similar.

There's an "Export" in the top right-hand corner of the map, click it and you get a "Download routing GPX file" option.Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -
