i'm getting into my road bike a lot more now as the weather is improving, i am looking for some advice with regards to the fit of the bike.
i would ideally like to adapt this bike to suit me as opposed to junk it in favour of a new setup.

here are a couple of pictures of me on the bike and then one on its own.

i think i may need a slightly longer seat post although i am on the balls of my feet when trying to put my feet down and perhaps a longer stem with a touch more rise.

any thoughts would be great.

More pictures needed, with crank at 6/12 o clock, on the hoods. Although at first glance, I think your frame is a bit too small.
    Say... That's a nice bike..

Always difficult to judge from a photograph, but I would say that the seat needs to come up; sounds like seat post shopping is on the cards.

yeah I'd second raising the seat, but by the looks of it you'll be considerbly more crouched. How tall are you, what size bike? When you stand off the saddle, feet on the floor how far is top of tube from male bits?

I'm 6'1"ish i think its 54 off the top of my head but i must measure it up properly.

the lights are aimed down as i was doing some night riding recently on unlit cycle paths near chelmsford and i needed to see the floor.

lots of considerations to keep me busy with later!

hmmm think your frame is too small, shorter than you and I ride two 54cm bikes. Somewhere between 5'8" to 5'10"

I'm just over 6'1 and ride a 58 or 59 top tube bike.

That bike looks far too small :(

Another on the frame too small PoV, at first glance.

Your legs look too bent at the 20 past 9 position in the pics; as a start you'd want straight legs with the pedal at the bottom of the stroke and your heel on the pedal.

Your eyeline with hands on the top of the hoods should be such that the front hub is obscured by the bars, give or take a bit. From the pics your head looks a lot further forward, which is where the sense that it's too small comes from.

And there's not enough carbon going on there either.

    Too small.
A bigger frame will have a longer top tube so you aren't so cramped. The head-tube is too short. Again, bigger frames usually have higher head-tubes

A sml-med size frame like that probably comes with 170mm cranks. A big guy like you can easily ride 175 and make better use of your leg muscles.

You should have no problem at all flogging such a nice bike.

The default hand position should be on the hoods, with the drops used in headwinds and steep slopes.

I can see the front hub too (on both bikes) but I don't think my frame is too small

you could probably make it rideable with a longer seat post set further back. stem may be ok because as you go up and back the reach will grow. i wouldnt make the stem any higher.

maybe i'll take a punt on a seat post and if its not improving things i'll have to call it a day

i have done about 30-40 miles on it so far and its ok but still feels cramped.
