Gear set advice

Hi all, I recently purchased and installed the following gear:
Shimano HG30 Cassette 11-28 7 Speed
Shimano M410 Alivio Chainset
Shimano Alivio M410 Rear Derailleur
Shimano SLX Front Derailleur - Triple Chainset
Shimano HG40 6-8 Speed Chain
I also renewed the gear cabling. The issue I'm having is adjusting and sorting out the dérailleurs and chain. Which of the front n' rear derailleur's should I adjust first? I've tried doing both and yet they still don't change gears correctly. The front derailleur doesn't move properly (or at all really) when gear shifting. The rear is the same. I was wondering whether the chain might actually be a little too large?
Any points, advice or links to decent guides would be great.
Thanks

read the guides on Parktools.
which mech first? it does not matter.
all the parts look good.
you have shortened the chain to the correct length?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi, thanks for the link.
I haven't done anything with the chain just yet. I wasn't sure how many links to remove (if any) to adjust it for a 7 speed gear set. The chap in evans cycles said I wouldn't need to, but I'm not sure.
