Hi
Does anyone know if Stan's No-Tubes Conversion Kit will work well with Mavic Crossride Rims and Kenda Karma tyres? As far as I know both rims and tyres are standard, i.e. non-UST.
Cheers

I do know the kit is a rip off.
Just buy the goo seperately, and buy a 20" inner tube.
fit inner tube on to bare rim. then cut down middle. voila you have a rimstrip for £3 not £20.
The tube method is a lot better as you then cut it to the correct size. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -
Thanks for the tip, but I think I'd be more comfortable spending the extra £££s on the proper kit.
Does anyone else know if my rims and tyres are 'No-Tubes' compatible?0 -
Before you dismiss Cavegiant`s method have a look at:

If you do decide you are flush enough to spend £50 on 2 rim strips and some goo, this might help......

yup - I ran them all last summer with no problem (and no flats). I managed to get a hole in one last week but it sealed up OK, after a few inflations.
When I did the conversion it was a pain to seal with a track pump but I managed it in the end. I would recommend that you try to get access to a compressor if you can, or use CO2 for the first inflate.0 -
Hmmm...it seems I may have had a change of heart since watching that YouTube clip, and following yet another thorn puncture whilst out riding tonight! Sorry for my earlier dismissal Cavegiant!
Am I right in thinking that all I need material-wise are two 20" inner tubes and some sealant? Also, what kind of condition do my tyres need to be in for this to work? I wouldn't say they're in bad condition, but they have been on and off my rims a fair few times due to the aforementioned thorn problems!0 -
Another thing, if I do get a puncture whilst out riding after going tubeless, how would I repair it?0

Usually you just fit an inner tube... But it's rare you'll get one that won't seal. You can also buy tubeless repair kits- a bit of string and a wee awl- but they're not all that good in my experience.Uncompromising extremist0
