SRAM X7 bottom bracket spacer issues...

I've got myself a nice new Sram X7 2x10 chainset with GXP bottom bracket. Now, I've got an issue when it comes to how many spacers to use...
My bottom bracket shell is 68mm, so it'd need some spacers. However, thanks to massive ambiguity in the SRAM multi-purpose instruction manual, it's really not clear how many. The diagram seems to suggest 2 on each side (which doesn't really make sense as it says you need none for 78mm bracket shells), but just one on each side doesn't appear to be enough to take up all the spindle length required (and yeah, I know I could just set it up like a Shimano one, buy I seem to recall that GXP bottom brackets use different amounts of spacers to Shimano ones, though I might have made that up).
It's on OEM product too so didn't come with any spacers supplied (cheers CRC!).
Anyone got any experience with this and can point me in the right direction?

it is not like the shimano one.
there should be a gap."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry, when you say "there should be a gap", do you mean between the drive side crank and the BB?
