Too much information?

I've just done a bit of searching to see what routes folks ride in my area and within a few minutes I've found a number of GPS routes that obviously start/stop at their houses.

Combine that with the threads where people discuss (show off ) their bikes and other threads discussing storage location and security (e.g. my bike is hanging unlocked in the hallway) and you've got a lot of information about some nice bikes.

I'm not saying that I've seen anything with all this info, but I reckon folks sometimes forget that this is a public forum and maybe should think twice about how much information they post.

I agree! Whenever I upload a route I modify it to start and stop at a location a small distance from my house, afterall it's only really the middle bit which is of any interest to others, if at all. It's very similar on a car forum I go on, people have locations, and don't blank our numberates etc. Sneaky people are well aware of forums.
Out with the old, in with the new here.

Good point. My neighbour's son is into flash bikes and had their garage cleared out last year (no insurance). Surgical strike - someone musta known somehow. Fortunately I don't have any flash bikes and they are all locked to wall anchors all the time.. The walls are fastened to the house and that is attached to other next door's house where a copper lives. Not that he was much bloody use..

I always keep logged rides from my home as private but club runs etc. I am happy to leave open.
