Trail gator on a road bike?

Will it work?

I have an old MTB but can't find the seatpost clamp. So the only bike I have available is my road bike, do any of you use your road bikes with trail gators?

I have posted this in family and kids but its not a highly frequented bit of the forum and could do with a response. TIA

I can't see why it wouldn;' work, but most people attach trail gaitors to MTB etc as they go off road or on canal paths etc as they are safer places to drag a little person on than on the main road.

I've attached one to my cross bike with no problems.

I did buy an old steel seatpost though as I don't think the carbon one would have taken too kindly to the clamp :D

I just leave the clamp on with an old saddle and swap them over when I'm going out towing junior.

well it would just be to ride on the cycle path on the promeande, so flat tarmac. He can ride the bike hiself but only learnt a few weeks ago so still tires easily.

    Aluminium post will be fine
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Why do I have visions of some kid being blasted around the local TT course because it's easier and cheaper than getting a babysitter for TT practice sessions?

I couldn't do it... lol. I sat for ages and looked at my beloved road bike and couldn't bring myself to attach this great big red bar to it that weighed almost as much as my bike !!!

  • No I wouldn't do it either.Apart from the aesthetics (is that how you spell aesthetics?) - my little girl is wobbly on the tag a long, I'd be off the road bike in no time, clipped in. I've been taking her places with her bike and just running alongside. She's eventually getting strong enough to go for a few miles and I took my own (newly aquired hybrid) bike for the first time yesterday. Got a 2ndhand hybrid for jobbing around and kiddie rides and commuting. money well spent. Was considering putting tagalong on that so we can cycle to school. Watch this space.
