Hi
im currently running a standard SLX chainset
i want to fit a bash guard which obviously means losing the 3rd ring but i find the 32t centre hasnt quite got enough legs
does any one see any issue with me fitting a 36t or 38t middle ring
will the jump from 22 to 36-38 be ok with shifting
thanks
Paul

    i use and would fit a bigger granny a 24 or 26 or 28

12T is meant to be the biggest jump but i believe people have managed a 22-36 before.

try and if you have issues you can easily fix it. the big problem is the lower part of the cage catching.

22-36 would work, but there's no doubt I would fit a bigger granny.

I run a 24t granny and 36t middle. To compensate for the loss of the lowest gear I use a 11-34 cassette. On the trail i rarly use the highest gear (11+36), and only the lowest (34+24) some few times - but that of course depends on the terrain you ride. I guess Im running on the 36t ring at 80-90% of the time.

Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?
