Hi
im currently running a standard SLX chainset
i want to fit a bash guard which obviously means losing the 3rd ring but i find the 32t centre hasnt quite got enough legs
does any one see any issue with me fitting a 36t or 38t middle ring
will the jump from 22 to 36-38 be ok with shifting
thanks

i use and would fit a bigger granny a 24 or 26 or 28
12T is meant to be the biggest jump but i believe people have managed a 22-36 before.
try and if you have issues you can easily fix it. the big problem is the lower part of the cage catching."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

22-36 would work, but there's no doubt I would fit a bigger granny.
I run a 24t granny and 36t middle. To compensate for the loss of the lowest gear I use a 11-34 cassette. On the trail i rarly use the highest gear (11+36), and only the lowest (34+24) some few times - but that of course depends on the terrain you ride. I guess Im running on the 36t ring at 80-90% of the time.0 -
Thanks for all the replys
i will try a 36 with the option of may be having to go up a few teeth on the granny ring
thanks again for the advice
