Specialized shoes & numb toes.

Does anyone else suffer with numb toes when wearing Specialized shoes?

I bought a pair of the Road Comp shoe and when I'm about 10-15 miles into a ride my toes feel numb.

It wasn't even cold this morning so I can't blame the weather!

Is this common to others?

I used to suffer from it in my spesh shoes, I was doing them up too tightly. Haven't suffered from it since.

Specialized shoes were't wide enough for me and gave me trouble on longer rides. My feet aren't particularly wide either. Splashed out on some sidi mega shoes and now have plenty of room.

Had the same problem. traded up to Sidi Ergo 2s which are the dogs ********.

I do too but only in winter

I eventually worked out that thick socks plus tight neoprene overshoes = squeezed circulation

In summer they are fine

You are either tightening the lower strap (if it has one?) too much or the lower toe section is too tight for your feet.

Must admit, I did not get on with a pair of Specialized shoes a few years ago and the bio-geometry sole ended up giving me ankle problems. Switched to a pair of Sidi's and the problem disappeared in a short time. Now into my second pair of Sidi's (Ergo 2's).....would recommend Sidi's to anybody & you can even replace most parts of the shoes.

Thanks for all your responses guys. I'm going out for long ride later and will see how they fare up again. It's not really cold so can rule out 'cold numb' and I will only have some thin socks on today.

For those that bought Sidi shoes - what size did you buy in relation to you normal shoe size?

I'm normally a ten and I find most bike shoes come up a bit small, so i'd go one size up. My normal walking shoes are ten(44) and my sidi are 11(45). And I got them in mega to make sure they were wide enough across the middle. Don't like my feet being squeezed.

I think the problem is you are making them too tight!

I used to strap mine up as tight as they would go, thinking it would give me more power

No, I leave the toe stap pretty loose, my new shoes use the Boa system, so i just make sure they are slacker near the toe.

I take a 42 in normal shoes and 44 for the Sidi Ergo 2s, a 44 is big enough to take a thicker sock in the Winter.
