I after a Garmin Edge.
With the 305,500,605,705,800,whats the best value for money.
I want to pay as little as possible and will be using it across roady and mtb.
Looking for a standalone unit I could buy the HRM and stuff if needed at a later date.
just want some feedback from someone who has bought something and dosent think about upgrading as what they have does all they need...

Just read that back and it makes no sense, but perhaps you get the flavour.
Thanks

I have a forerunner 305. Didn't want to spend loads on it but wanted a HRM with a GPS log to see where I ride. Its perfect for that, download the route once you have ridden then you can view it on google earth/map my ride/garmin connect.

I also used the navigate function for the first time last week, I was riding in a new area and wanted to get back to my car. It gave me a map view of where I had ridden and also an arrow to get me back to the car. Worked perfectly.

Ill have a look at that.
Managed to grab an hour to have a look this afternoon.
Been looking on an auction site at the 705 but they are a tad expensive, although cheaper than the 800

    Cheers

I use a Forerunner 305 on both road & MTB.

Used the navigation function a few times for road work, plotting the route on Bikehike & exporting the gpx file.

You don't get a map view, but arrows for your next turn with distance to go before turn. Worked pretty well, but can't say it's ideal in a place you have never been to.

If I lost it, I would buy another one without hesitation.
