Rock Shox Stanchion Damage

Just after a little advice.
Have noticed some marks on the stanchions near the seals on my new 2011 Rock Shox Revelation forks (used only a handful of times). They look more like stains than wear to be honest. They are horizontal and not particularly even in nature. Also, they only seem to be on the rear of the stanchions. Anyone know whether this is a common condition and what might have caused it?
Will try to upload some pics when I get the chance. Thanks for any feedback
(Edit: Pics added further down)

My revs have a weird tide mark just about at the 150mm mark. Don't know what causes it but it's been there since I got them and hasn't caused any problems so I've just ignored it. My RP23 has something similiar for that matter.Uncompromising extremist0

could be a rubber scuff from the seals if they were not lubed properly first time out...I like bikes and stuff0

Nah, I don't think it is, when the anodising wears you see silver. That's not exactly the same as mine- mine's more regular- but very similiar and just seems to be some sort of stain.Uncompromising extremist0
