http://www.mapmyride.com - here you can create a route which can be uploaded to your pc and then your 705.(youll need to create a profile-free)

http://www.garminconnect.com - here you can store your ride data etc(as above)

search "garmin 705 manuals" to get downloadable manual- not the best but a good starting point.

    Using a Garmin Edge 705
There is no explicit way to directly put a route onto your 705 using our website. We are working on that functionality and it should be available in the coming months, but for now, you need to export a GPX file to your computer, and then put that GPX file onto your 705 by copying it into a folder on the 705. The instructions will vary depending on what operating system you are using, but here is a general idea:
Open your route on our site, and in the sidebar to the right, make sure the "Overview" tab up top is selected, and that the "Export" tab in the sidebar body is also selected. You should see some talk about export options.
Pick the correct export option for your device. This is going to vary depending on your device, but for the 705 you have two considerations. A GPX Route will give "turn by turn" directions, however the Garmin Engineers are a bit clueless and made the 705 try to auto-route you in the "best way possible" according to the device. This means the route might deviate from what you mapped on our site. This is really unfortunate behaviour, and renders the 705 almost useless for turn-by-turn directions. The better option is a GPX Track, which will provide you with a map and the track overlayed on the map, and a compass. The compass will always point in the direction you should be going, however, you won't get notified of upcoming turns, so you need to at least be paying some small attention to your general location. Lastly, a TCX file is used for training purposes, and our site doesn't fully embrace the possibilities of this format, however we are working to change that.
Click the appropriate export format to save the file locally to your computer. Pick an easy to find location, like your desktop or your home folder, so you can find it again.
Plug your 705 into the computer. You might be prompted to open a folder to view the files, or not. if not, go to "My Computer" or the equivalent on your computer. You should see the Garmin device listed. Opening the folder will show a Garmin folder (the only folder), and inside that should be a collection of folders and files. Find the one labeled "GPX", or if it's not present, create it. On Windows computers, you can usually create a folder by right clicking and selecting the "new" option. Note: make sure the folder is all caps! Once you have that folder opened and/or created, you can drag your downloaded GPX file to this folder. It should now be on your device, and you can "unmount" (safely remove, or whatever your operating system calls it for safely stopping and removing a USB drive).
turn on the 705 and go to the Menu. I believe pressing the thumbstick allows you to select "Where to?", which will let you select "saved rides", which should list your route. You should be able to navigate the route at this point!

Go to bikehike.co.uk > course creator, plot your course download it as a .gpxx file, connect your Garmin to the computer, copy the file to the GPX folder in your Garmin, away you go.............

I would suggest loading a course (.TCX) rather than a route (.GPX) into the 705, works better for me. Bikeroutetoaster.com will do both.
