HI all. at the moment i commute to work on a Boardman hybred comp, it has a Truvativ touro compact crankset with a powersline BB. I want to upgrade this but not sure how :?
I believe this is a bottom of the range road crankset & BB, How do you know which cranksets go with which BB, and will they all fit my Boardman frame.

Why do you want to upgrade? I don't see what benefit you'll get on a a commuting bike. I think Power Spline BBs are a Truvativ standard, so unless you switch to a different crank/spindle interface (ISIS, Octalink, Square taper, etc) I guess you'll need Truvativ cranks.

Firstly you'll need to know the BB shell width, threading, and spindle length

if you go into halfords they will have the details of your existing BB from this you can find the sizes for your upgrade- im guessing your running sram on that? dont know anything about that. find your fancy new chainset, and the required BB to suit it that fits your bike.
