In UK you experience either headwind or (in very very rare cases) tailwind, in NL you have sidewinds0

riding in tight formation whilst having to heel the bike over at 15˚ into the wind right next to a canal. What could possibly go wrong?1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

That was rather amusing, the guy with the red Cervelo looked like he was going in the canal :-)
I have a simple solution, ditch Cervelo as your team bike of choice and use Apollo - you could put one of those in a hurricane and it wouldn't shift :-D0 -
I had some serious sidewind today, not too pleasant when you're going down country lanes with a 60mph speed limitCannondale SS Evo Team

... wait! is that the sound of a squadron of flying pigs approaching?
I once also saw a unicorn and swam with mermaids.
Tailwind.

Amazing, at least he was laughing about it though.
The most impressive bit was the through-and-off right near the end in tight formation whilst leaning into the sidewind.FCN 2 to 80 -
Very cool. What's equally impressive is the number of little old ladies on huge dutch bikes I've seen pedalling into massive headwinds and leaning into massive sidewinds whilst going about their business.
The translation of the text on bit where the guy who can't get on his bike is 'yeah, yeah, Michael, you've got the lightest bike...'

Did you have a sail on your back? I was 5 minutes over my usual time and a little windswept0 -

Yes that was my ride home. As I live in Derbyshire, the speed limit was 50 not 60.
It was the 180°veering that got me, and as I cycled up the hill I saw leaves being blown in both directions at the same time.0 -
wind in southern england is nothing compared to what you can get up north. i spent 3 years in durham and the wind there is a howler even in summer. particularly intensified if you go anywhere hilly as the valleys tend to funnel the wind. still, it meant going west-east could be very fast indeed, particularly as the valleys go downhill in that direction anyway.0

There appears to be very little wind here at the moment.
I'm sure this will change as 6 (when I leave) approaches. I will not credit a blazing ride in withouit paying for it on the way home.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Tailwind this morning, I was at least one gear higher in most places on the way in....I kept looking round for the Unicorn escort.....
Killer headwind on the way back, then at one point a hideous side wind, at least it was only trying to blow me into the ditch not the passing cars!
