On One 456 - Chocolate Project

Bit of a story behind this one one.
Basically i've had a Marin FS (tara frame) for the past 5 years, haven't really got the full use out of it as i tended to use my old Specialized Hard-rock that i did up a few years ago ( http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... highlight= ).
This got me thinking, since i enjoyed riding the hard-tail so much, why not sell the Marin and get something that i would use more often.
So the Marin was broken up (wanted to keep the forks & Wheels) and all the items, plus a load of spare parts where put up on eBay.
Then i got made redundant.......so the plan was then hatched to use the cash generated from eBay to fund the new project.
I originally wanted a black Blue pig, but nowhere in the UK has one in stock, so after plenty of time I settled on a chocolate On One 456.
Managed to get the SLX group-set from Action Sports, which enabled me to get the SLX brakes.
Overall i'm £70 under budget, which i'm (and the wife) are well happy with.
Now i just need a day and some beer to build!

I love the look of those blue scewers, where can I get hold of some of those?
EDIT: Found them on Wiggle - might have to invest!Specialized FSR XC Expert 20100 -
Well after several hours and beers the bike is built. Glad I decided on getting sone different grips to the charge sponge ones as they were to thin to grip. I try and get some pictures up tomorrow.
Even the the wife went ooo that's nice. Which from her normal reaction of "oh it's a bike" is pretty pleasing. I even had s cheeky ride round the block as I was so made up.0 -
Right, managed to get some pictures taken in the morning sun.

In the end I decided to leave the Hayes rotors on as the bolts were a pain in the rear to get undone. Thinking when I have the funds to get some new wheels with blue hubs I'll put some new rotors on.
Also the brake cables need shortening as they are a tad on the long side.

Looks great, I really like blue and brown together, kinda wrong, but works well.0

Nice build, Ive just bought a 456 in the same colour :-)
BTW have you zip tied the front brake hose to the fork stantion?0 -
Nice bike man
I'm seriously thinking about making a 456 my new bike.
stevenk4563 - I think it's just the camera angle. The zip tie lets you know how much travel you're getting out of your forks, you can then adjust the fork accordingly.0 -
i think some blue superstar rims or hubs would look awesome on it0
-
thanks for all the comments Looking forward to taking her out one night this week on the local trails.
Defo looking at the superstar wheels, still thinking blue hubs with the rest black. Just need to wait for them to come into stock and find the money0
