Reba rebound adjuster - o-ring or spring clip????

hiya
i got my set of second hand rebas this morning and all was well untill i tried to get off the rebound adjuster. i had to pry it off with a screwdriver.
i did notice that instead of an o-ring there was a metal spring clip.
now should there be a rubber o-ring or the spring clip?
i seem to remember o-rings on other forks? aswell as being able to pull the adjuster off with little fuss.
if it's meant to be an o-ring, where can i get a new one from?
