Insurance advice

Hello. Wasn't sure where to post this, so thought i'd try here!
Basically I've just bought a new bike and want to get insurance out on it. I'm having huge problems finding a suitable company. My bike shop recommended cycleguard, but reading the small print, i've discovered they don't cover theft of parts, which seems completely riddiculous. Have tried finding other insurance companies online but none of them seem to specifically say they cover theft of parts, so I'm assuming they don't.
Which insurance company are you guys with? Can anyone recommend a good one, that definitely covers for theft of parts as well as the whole bike?
As i rent & don't have suitable window locks, I'm apparently not eligible for home insurance, so that's no good.

Theft of parts ................. what sort of parts?
What sort of value is your bike - Cervelo or Carrera?
Can't you get it covered under the contents of your home insurance? This works out the most cost effective in most cases. Individual bike policies tend to offer poor value for money IME. If a part is nicked then just replace it and don't park your bike there again.
I have come to the view that spending lots on bicycle insurance is pointless year after year. You may as well self insure and buy a couple of f*uck off D locks such as Abus Granit X Pluses instead. After paying 3 years of premiums for some bespoke bike policies you could buy yourself another bike - new.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.0 -

Bike insurance is expensive, usually 10% of the value/year. The key rule for insurance is that you insure the things you cant afford to replace. If you can keep a pile of money sufficient to replace a bike at short notice, then you don't need to pay for bike insurance and can pocket the money.
Invest in a good lock (or 2) and some pitlock security skewers.
You cant afford to ride without 3rd party insurance or legal expenses. If you cause a crash or damage to a person/car you could be looking at a claim of thousands. CTC membership includes 3rd party insurance.0 -

I'm with ETA for my carbon. I think it is probably about 8% of the bike value. I went for them because they cover you for crash damage if you are racing, time trialling or training for either. They also do a get you home free if you end up sitting amongst a pile of carbon bits.
I initially tried to get it on the home insurance but it was going to cost 3 times more than the insurance on my car    .0 -
M&S household but there's a £100 excess so that probably means that stolen parts may not be covered, my seat post and saddle, which are removable, are not worth £100!Do not write below this line. Office use only.0
