have just a quick 4 day trip starting from Baden Baden with the mrs to see if the home built bikes fall apart

Ive the german touring map and will do a loop just planning as we go along...long shot but doea anyone know from experience if Im going be able to wing it at Easter and still find accom on a daily basis in that area (to a reasonable hotel/B&B price) or do i need to carry a tent/sleeping bag as back up...

You can reduce some of the risk by using internet booking and searches the day before...I like to use Hostelworld or hostelbookers prebooking the night before They do hotels and guest houses as well as hostel dorms..

I reckon you'd be absolutely fine (I spent about a year working in that corner of Germany). Summer is prime tourist season in the Black Forest and there are enough hotels to cater for the tourists then - easter is definitely off season. However, my usual strategy is to book a b&b for the first night and use the difficulty of arranging that as a gauge as to accommodation availability for the rest of the trip. Best done on the phone too, so you can ask!
