Ran the bike, with original parts for 18 months, then decided to strip it down, and rebuild it from scratch. It weighs 21lbs dead, including pedals, and that's light enough for me, i reckon. If I'd waited a little longer, i would've put the new XTR kit, and Fox Terralogic fork onboard, but I'm happy with the results. Only had one problem, which was a slipping seatpost, changed it in the end for a Bontrager XXX seatpost, which seems to have sorted the problem.

Fair do's mate, i know what you mean, been shopping for a road bike atm and figured since my mtb is a spesh I'd look for something different, however I got a great offer on a 2011 allez from my lbs so couldnt refuse! I do love trek's though, I regularly find myself drooling over fuels and remedys! And thats an awesome specl of wishlist parts!0 -

I had the same hope seat clamp as yourself, and found it slipped. Swapped to a gusset clamp and it sorted it out.0

The original Bontrager one wasn't up to much, suffered slippage with that. So far the Hope seatpost clamp is doing the job, thanks for the info, will look at the Gusset.Trek Remedy 9.9 (custom) 2011
