anyone out there with a long head!!?.
wot helmet do you wear to stop yourself looking like an idiot?.
i have a long "anglo saxon" head and my giro helmet looks pathetic perched up there!.
are there any lids that sit lower down on the skull, to help aliviate the perched on top look?.
help me big heads please!!!.

How big? I went from a Giro, which was very very mushroomy, to a Kask which just fits me perfectly and sits nice and low down. K10My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I bought a uvex fp1 the other month and ( dont snigger) I get lots of complements about my helmet. You look normal in it as opposed to an extra from mario land.0

many thanks i will check them out.
mushroomy is a very good description i will remember that!!.
usually my head is covered by a motorcycle helmet, it feels so much better with a dark visor hiding your face away from prying eyes, much less embarrasing than ridin round with a mushroom up top!!.0 -
wow theyre both a bit pricey!.
anything cheaper out there?.0 -

Just got the white carbon one myself and it's great.
£75 from Rutland Cycles, so not tooooo bad when considering the quality vs price of other 'top' manufacturers.FCN 2 to 80 -
IMO colours have some influence here. A plain dark colour won’t draw so much attention to your helmet whilst white may emphasise the mushroom effect.0

Exactly the same colour helmet and place where I got mine from0 -
I too found the Giros (Monza and Saros) like mushrooms, so I after trying a few different brands I settled for Specialized Echelon at £49.99 - it felt better than the Propero too.
The Specialized seem to be lower profile.0 -
The Uvex Boss Race is very similar shape and style to the FP1 and can be had for £50 from Rutland as wellCervelo P3
Bianchi Infinito
Cannondale CAAD100 -
Well I've recently bought a Kask k10 and find it quite mushroomy. I also don't like the excessive length of the chin strap tensioner - big leathery bit hanging out!Plymouthsteve for councillor!!0

cheers for the input, i think ill try somewhere thats stocking the specialized and the uvex lids and see how i get on!.0

The price of bike helmets has always amazed me. How they can get away with charging anything more than £10 for a few grams of polystyrene and plastic is beyond me (says he sporting a £50 MET lid). Must be a nice racket to be in.0

and find it better than the mushroom met i replaced, cooler, lighter and close enough to more expensive road racing helmets in terms of looks and shape.0 -
I rec the Boardman Road helmet... excellent piece of kit and no mushroom affect!0
