RockShox Lyrik Coil - Sag

I've just bought RockShox Lyrik Coil, i've been on a couple of rides and it feels a bit stiff.
Having read around the net a lot, many say RockShox figures are way out and most go for a softer spring than needed.
Its 170mm fork and with everything dialled completely off I'm getting 25mm sag which is about 15%.
Do I need to switch from my current medium spring, to the soft??
If so, is it really simple as this video

you get that sag standing? and is it on a fully?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Try measuring it stood up, in your normal stood riding position.0

always measure sag in attack position, weight central on pedals off the saddle, you should be getting around 50mm sag.
i have the 170mm rc2dh air versions and 50mm sag is about the sweet spot.
not enough sag on a big fork can make the front end very skittish and wanting to wash out very easyly on loose bumpy corners
run as much sag as poss without the fork bottoming out hard, the more sag the better as long as you have enough low speed comp adjustment to tune out too much brake dive and obviously bottoming hard0 -
I'll measure it standing up later after work, see what I get then.
Thing is, on my rides I've kept the compression damping dialled off as it feels a bit stiff. My thought process is thinking, switch to soft spring and dial in some compression to control the fork's movements. As it is now, i'm not getting full travel from it even some of the big hits.0 -
170mm fork on a hard tail?  :shock:0

yeah id try a softer spring and wind the high speed right off and dial in enough low speed to keep and brake dive and pedal wollow under control.0

I measured the sag whilst standing last night and getting 35mm.
So took it to a local downhill-ish trail to see if they forks just need to loosen up. It did perform a bit better on big hits but still feels a bit stiff (the compression damping still wound off)
So i might try the soft spring for a few rides then see which spring i get on with.
Is changing the spring as easy as the video in my first post??0 -
Managed to finish work early so had bit of time to fiddle tonight.
I've put the soft spring in such an easy job. sitting I had sag of 30mm and standing in attack position was 45mm.
Took it out for a short ride, and was too soft, but started fiddling with high/low speed compression and rebound and its riding real sweet.
Despite RockShox saying soft isn't for my weight, the soft spring seems to be right, maybe its because most of my weight is always fairly central to rear and never really over the front.
Need to get to afan argoed for a proper test!0 -
take the normal spring with you as well."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
