Shock reducers - Lube?

The way I see it, the reducers should rotate within the shock eyelet DU bush. I.e. there is movement between them.

But reducers removed tend to be rather stiff within the eyelet, and also, there often seems to be some dry red lacquer-type stuff present.

So, do you lube your bushes, and if so, regular grease? What's the red stuff anyway?

The red stuff could possibly be coming from the DU bush. Either way it seems to be some form of coating. I have no idea.

The shock is on my bike, DHX coil.

I have always lubed reducers but I just got curious to ask, always finding this red stuff and never any trace of lube.

DU bushing are a dry bushing, the 'red stuff' is the bushing material. They don't need any additional lube other that what's built into them.
