SRAM Rear Mech Cage Length

Hi guys, can someone please help advise me about the cage length I would need for a SRAM X0 rear mech.
I currently have a 11-34 rear cassette and 22/32/44 front gearset. If I was staying with this setup what cage length would I need?
Im also thinking about getting rid of the big ring on the front and possibly changing the middle ring to a 34 instead of a 32 (would this make much difference? :? ) If I did remove the big ring what size rear cage would I need then, or would it still be the same size?
Last question is how do I work out the cage length I need, or is it a top secret black art only known by the most techy of mtb'rs.
Cheers all....

Not a secret, mech tech docs will give max range for a mech.
Generally for 3 ring front a long cage, 2 a medium and a short should work with a single, depending on above.
A long cage will work with any.I don't do smileys.

as covered in the FAQs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
