I have a Quad gmd-6 D front disc brakes, this is my first bike with a disc brakes which is a second hand. Are this brakes so rubbish or the pads worn out, I can hold the brake lever really hard and still be able to move bike, they squeak as well…
Should I check pads condition, adjust the cable or get new brakes.

Thanks

    sounds like they are contaminated.

clean the rotors and replace the pads.

but as they are Mechanical brakes they may also like a full service. new cables etc...

Try winding in the fixed pad slightly, sometimes with lack of adjustment discs can be pushed onto the caliper body itself and lose friction as the plastic is too slippery.

Is the lever coming back to the bars? If so they need adjusting.

As mattv has said, if they are badly adjusted the moving half may be pushing the disc against the caliper body not the other disc which will also result in rotten braking.

My Commuter is on CMD-9's (very similar callliper) and will pull a stoppy, so the brakes can be OK!
