Hi peeps,
Just thought I'd put this forward as another option for trail riding footwear, new cycling/hiking shoe from Timberland.

I got a pair today as I am a massive Timberland fan, I know they will take a beating as with all my other Timberland stuff, had a short walk in them and will trial them on the bike tomorrow but so far they are properly comfortable, not the lightest of footwear but not too heavy. They have a new ''pedalflex'' sole which goes rigid when cycling and flexes for walking and fully waterproof and breatheable goretex uppers. I love em so far!

What are the soles like? Are they grippy/tacky?
Also, what is the fit like, are they are the small or large size regarding the fit?0 -
Size is normal to me, 9.5 is spot on. Sole is grippier than the Merrel shoes I've been wearing, not tacky but plenty of grip, I have no worries about using them on my Wellgo MG1s tomorrow.0

£90 is a pretty expensive - I think I paid £55 for my AM40's and looking at the sole I very much doubt that these offer better grip.
I could be wrong though !0 -
At that price i'd imagine most people would go with a fiveten show for flat pedals0

They are pricey but so are 5 -10s. I've read about 5 - 10s not being particulary well made/tough, soaking up water etc. I was happy to pay a few extra quid on a brand that I trust!
As for grip, Ive only worn a pair of Merrell hiking shoes or a pair of Adidas Superstars on my Wellgo MG1s and have never had a problem with grip, I believe most of the grip comes from the pedal!
Will give a review onve worn on the bike properly!0 -
Just been out for an hour in the woods with them and they are great, no grip issues at all on my pedals, really comfy and you can really feel them go rigid when you pedal, I much prefer them over my Merrells i used before. Plus they are great for walking in too!0

Soles look a bit chunky for my taste - I like to be a bit closer to the pedal. As for the price! Ouch. I think I'll stick to me old waterproof Karrimor trainers .Cost me 15 notes from Sports Soccer in Brizzle. Bargain.
This sort of thing: http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor?dc ... =PRICE_ASCYou only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
I use Nike Renzo on flats stick like sh*t to a blanket......and cheap too.0

AM40 > The above overpriced walking boots labelled as bike boots.0
