Recon 351 Solo Air help

My set of these forks came with stanchion length (seal to crown) of 135mm. Can anyone confirm for me that with full travel of 140, this measurement should be about 145mm?
I'm assuming this means that the fork came with the travel spacer fitted and it was also not in the box. But my lbs rockshox dealer doesn't seem to know how to adjust these forks. The first time, the guy removed the top out bumper so top of the travel felt like a big metal on metal clunk. When I told him to try again, he's just given me it back with the original travel, even worse, it's bottoming out with over 3cm of stanchion still showing so only about 100 of usable travel. When I asked for the spacer he supposedly removed, he went to the spares drawer and gave me a piston!
Can any owner tell me the correct stanchion length when set at 140 travel, and whether u get full travel from this model? In the meantime i'll have one last try with this lbs since I paid him to get me full travel

Sounds like your LBS has fecked up. The top out bumper is there for a reason - sure, the spacers can be removed to change travel, but...
As Nick says though. What year and model? Some Recon models were 140mm,most are 130mm.0 -
Year 2010 as noted above. Full model is RS Recon 351 Solo Air.
RS description states these are 140mm travel, but include a 10mm travel spacer to reduce travel to 130mm (not sure if this usually ships pre-fitted or just in the accessory bag.
Anyway am going now to show the mechanic the manual which looks pretty simple. They also have the same model in the shop so will measure the stanchions on that and compare. If necessary I'll get him to show me the spring when he opens it up so we can solve this. Don't like wasting my weekend with the bike in the shop!
Don't think I'll be using this shop again after this..Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Seems sorted after the 3rd trip. He finally took out the spacer, not sure what part he didn't understand about my initial request (remove spacer, bring travel back from 130 to 140).
Will be out for ride this afternoon to see how it performs, woohoo!!
Another LBS here has the 2010 Sektors & Revs on sale, GBP270 and 320. Sorely tempted but don't think I can justify it when I haven't even ridden the current ones at full travel..Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782
