Title says it all really - I've been given a rather lovely looking Dura ace quick release skewer for a rear wheel.

Obviously its a road bike bit of kit - can I stick it on my Trek Fuel ex 5.5? Its about half the weight of the cheap steel version I'm currently using, but will it take the beating??

Thanks

J

will be most likely be too short. as road hubs are 130mm.

  • Road bike wheels space @ 130mm and MTB @135mm. The skewers are made to suit the hub type.
I wouldn't use it on a regular rear MTB dropout, but yours may have the APB dropout?(as you don't know the model no. it's difficult to tell) and it just wouldn't reach through the assembly.
    Don't do it.

Thanks for your advice chaps - I'll guess I'll stick this thing in the great big box of misc bike bits - just in case....
