Does anyone know if the Garmin chest strap from a Garmin 305 is compatible with a Garmin 500?

Also what is the best price anyone has seen the 500 at? Even tesco sell them now but I have found just the base unit for £135 ish from a company called handtec.

Handtec was the cheapest I found for my Garmin 500. I did the same as you and upgraded from a 305 (bought a powertap so needed power display), I kept the heart rate strap from the 305 and it has worked perfectly.

Great service from handtec as well. Payed in the morning and it was here the next day. Can't complain at that!

Not sure how often Handtec get stock of the Garmin 500 though. I have registered my email with them for stock notification but not heard anything and its been 10 days now. Next cheapest seems to be about the £155 mark.

  • Does that mean the chest strap from my 305 also works with an 800?

They are in stock at Handtec and at really good price, plus the fact they are only 10 minutes down the road from me so if I get any problems I can easily call in.
