    Hi bjl

I fitted some to my road bike last year for triatlons,i used my normal stem ,but moved
the seat forward and then raised it slightly to compensate while lowering the stem one
spacer. to get in a better tuck postion .hope this helps.

What ever you do, be ready for a twitchier ride, not sure if this was just me, but the first time I used bars I hated them. I bought them a week before a triathlon thinking the transition would be smooth. I wish I'd bought them earlier to get used to them, I did not use them for that tri. :?
  • I have a set of Profile Design "Century" Prayer bars on my Fuji fulltime, takes a little getting used too but I have not altered the stem but I guess for Tri events/TT's you could take off a few Spacers if you have some to get a lower position.

I believe it's a good way of seeing if you can adapt to using them and I spend a fair bit of time riding on them now.

I use clip ons a lot on my road bike as I do a fair amount of TT's and Tri's but can't yet afford a TT bike.

As Garmin says, lift and slide forward your saddle(just a touch at a time), you may also want to slightly tilt down the nose of the saddle.

At the start of the season I keep the same stem)120mm) and just go with that until I'm used to the position. I then use a 110mm adjustable stem, this means I can get the bars really low for racing, again I do this in stages so I don't feel too extreme too quickly.

All this is assuming that you are going TT'ing, don't turn up for group/club/sportives rides with this set up as you won't be very popular and might be turned away for safety reasons.

Token do a very good set of very adjustable clip ons for less than £40

Thanks for replies, might try a pair of the Token bars, seen them for £31 at wiggle.
