Need to re cable my front SLX mech. Should the barell adjuster be half way in when installing the new cable or what is the recommended position? Checked the Shimano tech docs but can't find anything on adjuster position.

Thanks

Cheers. Another simple enough job I'm bound to screw up

    Thanks

thats is only helpful when you are about to start setting up the gears.

and then it is only good if you always tend to over tension the wire from the start.

i always have it all the way in as a starter for set up.

I usually just make sure it's got some leeway both ways, so fully screwed in, then a few turns back out again.
I do it because I'm a clumsy oaf, who's easily distracted, and sometimes either overt-ension, or under-tension the cable on the mech.

This sounds like the approach for me to be honest! I usually screw every job up at least once before I get it right. Still I'll never learn if I keep running to the lbs everytime something needs done but it would save me a few headaches
