Seat post drops during ride

I have a Giant Revel entry level/leisure MTB and during a ride the seat post drops an inch or so.

Is there anything I can do to stop this?

tighten the clamp more.

check the post is the correct size

Sometimes it can drop even when tight. If this is the case give it a good clean as some grit may be the cause of it. Worked for me anyway.

No, in fact, get an old seat post, the same size, cut off the amount yours drops by, add it to the length of your post and it should now hit the bottom of the downtube, I have done this and glued a rubbed down 2" piece of broom handle in the two parts to keep them together.

Or buy a decent seat clamp.
