  • nutigrain bar or similar. shoving sugar down your neck is not going to help as it gives you a very quick hit and then a long low. something with complex carbs is far far better

I can eat 2500kcal and left home riding within minutes. No problem. After the first 100km started to starve again. True

Let me get this right, you can eat 2500kcal, you leave home and are riding within minutes, it's no problem, after the first 100km though you start to starve again and all this is true. Wow.

Haha. 10000 kcal all on weekdays, riding all week. Hungry by weekend. True story.

Mouthful of sunflower seeds, dried dates and apricots- try to eat them with some natural bio-yogurt, Easy-yo is good. Have a drink too before you leave- my preference Green tea or glass of skimmed milk.

If you could make the time, the best start would be a small bowl of porridge with dried fruit and skimmed milk.

Then stick some dates where you can readily eat them on your ride and take water to wash them down. On arrival another glass of skimmed milk if you can.

All in all high carb, low GI- should see you through your early start.

Eat a banana, cycle to the nearest school with the health nazi canteen menu, and stuff your face at the burger van across the road.

I'm serious about the banana: sugar to get you going, starches to keep you going and other healthy, nutritional bits.

Doing it 5 days a week cuts into the upgrade budget though.

Followed by a massive come down.

Probably better off going for slow release such as porridge or a banana or 2. All this sugar stuff is pointless.

Well, done it once. Didn't know it was 2500kcal but then I turn the box of the chocolate cake and read it was 10 portion, 1 portion = 250kcal. I admit I did feel pretty stuffed. But after the first 50k riding I was feeling great, until 100k when I started to starve.
    Strongly not reccomended.

    How far are you riding?

If it's less than an hour you don't really need much, assuming you had a decent evening meal the night before.

Personally, before my 45-minute commute I have a mug of strong coffee & a banana.
