BB for a Kona Caldera 2009

My Caldera 2009 has a Mega Exo BB. What do I buy to replace it? I have emailed Kona who told me any 24mm axle running external bb would do. Playing it safe I bought another FSA Mega Exo (Team Issue BB-9050), it arrived today and the axle goes straight through the middle.

Why is this so difficult?

Just fitted it now and it works fine. I was trying to get it to wrap round the outside like an ice-cream.
