what do people recommend?

looking for similar longevity and puncture resistance - would like better or more forgiving ride quality maybe - than krylions anyhow

after folding and 25c....

For comfort, try Vittoria 'open tubulars' or Veloflex.
Not cheap, and not as long lasting as GP4000S though.

Vittoria Open Pave but not Veloflex. Fantastic tyres but a bit delicate for UK roads imo

GP4000s - I find them more forgiving than Krylions and Pro 3's.

Without a shadow Pro Race 3 - they should be on all race bikes by law

Krylions are just overpriced Rubino's - good puncture resistance but heavy, slow and only average grip !

I've had some poor luck with Michelin Pro3. I did about 50 miles on one and it got a large cut and that was that

    Pro2 were good however

Continental 4 Seasons are great but after 2000km puncture loads
Rubino Pro are ok but nothing special. Good puncture resistance
Continental Gatorskins are good except for wet grip. Also a bit heavier
Panaracer Pasella are similar to the Rubinos
Panaracer Stratius Elite were excellent, cheap, grippy, fast
I have some Krylions and they seem a bit better than the Rubinos
I have some Specialized Roubaix Pro, not ridden them much but seem fast, grippy etc

I have some "Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase" on order for the summer commute bike to replace the Pro3. The summer commute bike is currently risking it with some worn Conti 4 Seasons

Unless you go for a wider tyre i.e. 25mm+ the only way you'll improve comfort and feel is to compromise on puncture-resistant and durability. Vredestein Fortezzas in 25mm are great tyres but impossible to get in the UK.
For any others read the countless 'what tyres?' threads
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Michelin PR2s were brilliant, and PR3s are even better .....
  • krylions done 3000miles never had a puncture (just deflate after every week and brush all the flass etc of the tread) touch wood
but maybe something a bit lighter as it is summer coming up, gp4000's are a good shout
