Cautionary Tale - Wiggle shopping

Hi Guys
Bit embarrassed to flag this up since I consider myself reasonably savvy when online shopping.
Was looking to buy some clobber from Wiggle over the weekend but was a bit nervous about using my credit card after the recent posts about scams and skimming with Chain Reaction Cycles and Wiggle also (I think).
Consequently decided to use Paypal instead. Clicked on the Buy button and then logged into my Paypal account to confirm the purchase. it was only when I hit the "Confirm" button that I realised that the page was preset to the "Special Delivery" option. Having omitted to deselect that, I ended up with an extra £3.99 on my bill that I didn't need.
So it seems that Wiggle might be taking a leaf out of the budget airlines book where the shopper has to deselect the add on items rather than assuming the basic service is the default.
Only got myself to blame but thought it worth warning others.

It might be late now but i did that very thing once myself (and also a couple of times on Amazon) and both with Wiggle and Amazon I sent an e-mail straight way, explaining what i had done and asking for the free delivery option, and they changed it for me. No worries. Give it a try. If the order's not been processed yet they can probably adjust it.0

Or pay the £3.99 ... I bet it took you longer to write and moan about it than it would have to earn it ...
Sorry to a bit harsh, but it's the price of a pint ... Or a sandwich ... Or a magazine ... Or a pregnancy testing kit ...0 -
It's always been like that though.
....hasn't it?0 -
Just log in to your Wiggle account and cancel the order, you get refunded instantly.Smarter than the average bear.0

havent ordered from wiggle for a while and never had to pay for postage in the past so i think this must be a new feature on their web site
i have been caught out by amazon in the same manner before (their 1 click buy button doesnt help)
other web sites do a similar thing so it pays to be vigilant when buying from the web
i think web checkouts should have free postage as a default and premium postage options something you should have to choose if faster/safer postage is required0 -
Wiggle have absolutely done this for ages
Certainly 6 years if not longer0 -
Loads of eCommerce sites do this.....Summer - Dolan Tuono with Sram Force and Dura-Ace 7850 CL Carbon wheels
Winter - old faithful Ribble winter bike
SugarSync cloud storage referral link (better than DropBox atm imho) https://www.sugarsync.com/referral?rf=mzo2tcrhm5gn0 -

Just done the same thing myself from Amazon buying a Kindle ended up paying an extra £5.01 for P&P when it is advertised as free. Sent them an email and rang them basically saying the same as the quote above, but it was already too late to change. The daft thing is they suggested that I decline it when delivered then re order with the free P&P option. Must have been easier just to credit me the P&P back. Anyway, they won because I just accepted it in the end. The other thing with Amazon is that if you use "One Click" it makes it harder to spot.
"Moan over, Lesson learned"

Whoops....have a banana0

I think Wiggle and many others have always done this. But you should have just cancelled the order immediately or contacted Wiggle about the order instead of paying the £3.99.More problems but still living....0

If we're lucky, Speed_King will be along any minute.
He's an expert in the field of Wiggle complaints and such like.
