Second Hand or Ventura Pro or Spec Allez

Hi,
Would appreciate your thoughts and opinions on first road bike purchase, having never heard of Ventura is this a good buy or not?

or completely pushing the boat out on my budget for a Spec Allez 16 at £389

or buying second hand around the £250 - £300 mark. A couple of options at this price with 5 year plus frames, one with Ultegra groupset others with lesser spec.

    I've just ordered the Ventura for my Missus so i'll let you know if it's any good.

    I had difficulty finding something that I was happy with second hand in that price range and personnally I couldn't stretch to an Allez.
    The bike's fine, it's the engine that needs an upgrade.
