Anybody out there had any experience with veloce 10 speed. Purchased a wilier izoard recently. Had its first outing today and failed within the hour. I was unable to move the chain onto the big ring. Surely this should not be happening to a bike at that price. I am amazed the factory has sent this bike out, what happened to quality checks. back off to Evans in the morning, hopefully wont be making this trip a regular occurrence.

Nothing wrong with the groupset mate, take it back and tell the people who put it together to learn how to set the adjustments correctly.

It could happen with any groupset and takes 2 mins to fix.
  • Was it worn out when you got it? Could you see a faint trace of another bike's name beneath the paintwork?

Don't bother with Evans, Wiggle will be at the bottom of this you mark my words.

I have experience with 10 speed veloce and wilier, having bought the same bike last november but from another supplier.
I am a newbie but commited. Over the winter the bike has been properly used, including a 100 mile Oxford to Derby in 5 hours and 8 mins.
The groupset has been excellent, not a single change missed. A bit clunky certainly but then i knew that when I bought it. In terms of reliability though, absolutley faultless in many hundreds of miles.
I don't think this is a quality control issue. Forget Evans mechanics and find a local bike shop with Camag experience and i think your problem will be solved.

It's a bomb prof groupset when set up correctly - sounds like it just needs a bit of tinkering.

Sounds like cable stretch? Watch a youtube video on how to adjust, I speak Japanese not Italian and we don't mention what happened the last time I tried to adjust an Italian front mech

You're an evil man and Karma will get you  Or at least it would if Wiggle hadn't sold it with a worn out chain

Do you think someone at Wiggle used them before Ribble sent them to you?

It's the retailer that finally sets the bike up, not the factory (front and rear mechs can get knocked out of 'true' in transit). Sounds like all it needs is the front mech adjusting... no excuses for Evans.

    Evans - says it all.

I'll never forget the phone conversation with one of their mechanics in Bristol, pointing out that yes, Evans do have a 9 speed long cage rear mech in their product range and yes it is in stock at head office so no, you won't have to make my sisters chainset into a double and use a short cage mech. Even then after 3 weeks they 'forgot' about doing the work. Avoid if possible.
