Hi all, first post in this forum as this is the first time I've considered such an idea involving a bike! I am planning the route in the title, and have just heard about the LF1. I need places to stay and was thinking Oostende and Middelburg, but is there anywhere nicer than these places nearby?
Thanks for the help!
Geoff

Veurne and Diksmuide are charming Flemish cities, but probably too close to Calais for being suitable for the first night.
Oostende is less appealing in summertime. In Brugge you will have to deal with hurdles of tourists.
Middelburg is less known but a real gem, reminding of the 'Golden Age' when the United Provinces ruled the seas of the world.
In all of this cities several families host cyclists through the scheme of 'Vrienden op de Fiets' http://www.vriendenopdefiets.nl60 bicycle trails along Belgian canals, rivers and former railway tracks : http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/by/fietslogies0 -
Stayed in Ostend as first nighgt stop on a bike trip years and years ago... Is it so bad .???. Stayed first night in the youth hostel and next day set off for Brugges..(i think it was only 20km or so). then on to Ghent...I find any lack in galmour in your accomdation is often compensated by other things espec socially..jc0
