Shimano Alfine on a Brompton?

Hi,
I have a 6 speed Brompton, and the rear wheel is in a bit of a state, very worn rim and a 3 speed Sach hub that sounds/feels very unhealthy. Just greased up the hub bearings and its bearing races need replacing, and it's all pretty tatty in there.
The shifters are pretty crappy too.
So, I'm considering my replacement options...
I originally thought that because I'd need a chain tensioner anyway (for the fold) I figured I might as well keep the 2 speed 'cassette'.
But now I'm interested in building up an Alfine hub (possibly 8 speed) with the Alphine chain tensioner... the crank looks nice too!
...any suggestions welcome,
Cheers

...or does anyone have experience of the kinetics 8 speed conversion?

Sturmey Archer 8 speed hub (in wheel), with tensioner, chainset, shifter and cable for £300.
The advantage of this is that I know it fits a Brompton.
I hear differing stories that the Alfine requires rear triangle adjustment...
...anyone have any opinions of upgrading the Brompton's gears?0
