Chainset 9 Speed query

In a bit of a follow up to my previous post about I was wondering whether the chainset on my hardrock will be compatible with a 9 speed transmission. Its a pretty basic suntour xct v2 crankset and on the suntour website its says 24 speed compatibility, so, is it new chainset time or will this one still work?

    Thanks :) for a second there I was thinking I was going to have to shill out for a deore crankset on top of all the 9 speed components I've just ordered!
