This is probably a very silly question, but what is the point of "sock" shoe covers?

Personally I quite like the look, but I was wondering if there is a good reason behind them?

    They are pretty sexy, keep the chill off your feet, for chilly starts, quite aero, keep shoes clean

    Feet warm... Shoes clean (not dusty).... Look good.... Variable amounts of each of these

    Over socks can look sexy.... especially if you shove enough of them down the front of your bib shorts... Er that's my secret out now :oops:

    Best ones are the Prendas special edition ones, two for £15
    Defeet Slipstream close second, debatable
    Mavic come in at third
    Biemme ones, which are from Ribble fourth
    Santini ones, last they are disgusting.

    Prendas only win because of price. Defeet otherwise

    Lycra overshoes don't look too bad either.

    Maybe I'll start with understated black ones, before moving onto the white or neon yellow ones!!

    I wonder if cycling has other accessory "fetishists"?

    Are others this enthusiastic about arm or leg warmers? Or maybe those cotton caps?
